What is Expanso?

Expanso Edge is a managed platform for deploying and orchestrating data pipelines at the edge.

The Problem

Traditional data processing sends all data to the cloud:

  • High bandwidth costs - Transmitting raw data
  • High latency - Round-trip to cloud and back
  • Privacy concerns - Sensitive data leaves premises
  • Network dependency - Stops working offline

The Expanso Solution

Process data where it's generated, at the edge:

  • Reduce bandwidth - Filter and aggregate before sending
  • Lower latency - Process locally, results instantly
  • Keep data local - Sensitive data stays on-premises
  • Work offline - Continue processing during outages

Key Capabilities

Edge-Native Processing

Data pipelines run on edge nodes, close to data sources. Only filtered/aggregated results go to the cloud.

Managed SaaS

  • No infrastructure to maintain
  • Centralized control plane in the cloud
  • Deploy pipelines from web UI
  • Monitor fleet health and metrics

Visual Pipeline Builder

Build data pipelines without code:

  • Drag-and-drop components
  • Live preview
  • Save and deploy instantly

200+ Built-in Components

Connect to anything:

  • Message queues (Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ)
  • Databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL)
  • Object storage (S3, GCS, Azure Blob)
  • APIs and webhooks
  • Files and streams

How It Works

  1. Deploy edge nodes to your infrastructure
  2. Build pipelines in Expanso Cloud
  3. Deploy pipelines to nodes
  4. Monitor from centralized dashboard

All processing happens at the edge. Only metrics and (optionally) processed data go to the cloud.

Common Use Cases

  • Log Processing: Filter and route logs at the source
  • IoT Data: Aggregate sensor data before cloud transmission
  • Edge Analytics: Compute metrics locally, send summaries
  • Data Transformation: Parse, enrich, and format at the edge
  • Compliance: Redact PII before data leaves premises
